Chamaedorea elegans, as its name suggests, is a highly elegant house plant which is a type of indoor palm here in the UK.
- Parlour palms are very popular house plants because they are so easy to care for.
- Chamaedorea elegans adapts very well to average indoor conditions.
- It has elegant green leaflets on arching fronds.
- This house plant might produce sprays of small yellow flowers on tall stalks, held above the foliage.
- Provide some natural light, where possible, although this is a plant that can cope with low light levels.
- Mist with a fine spray in order to increase humidity, every now and again.
- The fairly slow growing palm will eventually reach a manageable height of about 1.6m and this makes it highly suitable for most rooms.
- Do not prune! But you can remove brown fronds when necessary.
- Re-pot in spring when the roots have filled their pot.
