Description
Portuguese Laurel (Prunus lusitanica) is a dense evergreen shrub or hedging plant with glossy dark green pointed leaves on reddish stems. Scented white flowers in summer on untrimmed plants followed by red fruits harmful if eaten. Excellent in exposed, shady and chalky areas. Makes a good dense hedge which can eventually grow up to 4 to 5 metres approx. 13 to 16 feet in height if left untrimmed. Can be trimmed to form a hedge of between 1.2 to 3 metres approx. 4 -10 feet in height. Suggested planting distance if planting for a hedge 50-60cm (approx. 1.6 to 2 feet) apart in a single row.
